decarb caused black puddle!!

Hi, two days ago I used a product called Yamaha Combustion Chamber Cleaner to de-carb my engine, a 1990 Johnson 90hp.

I squirted the stuff in the throttle throats with the engine running on flush in my driveway. Then I let it sit for about an hour and a half before putting in the water and running a medium load for about 15 minutes.

Its been sitting in my garage with motor tilted down ever since, and today I noticed a puddle of what looks like black oil which has come out from around the propellor! I have a horrible feeling that when this decarbing stuff has oozed out the exhaust it has dissolved the gearcase seals behind the prop! Is this what has happened?? Could it just be leftover decarb dripping out?

Would really appreciate some help on this one!

Fun answer, all the seals in the powerhead and gearcase and waterpump have melted and are dripping out around the prop, you will need to ship the motor to me for disposal.

Real answer, carbon and unburnt 2 stroke oil is on your floor, enjoy the boat- it's a nice one. :)

Do not ship it to BK!! Send it to me instead.

Nah, go ahead and send it to him, I'd have to buy a boat to mount the motor on for disposal.

Seriously, you put that stuff in there to cut the carbon loose, and it did what it's supposed to do. Now it's running out to worry you. It will keep doing that for quite a while too, taking a goodly amount of hard running to burn/smoke it all out of the exhaust pipe.

2 strokes normally accumulate a lot of black oily carbon on the inside of the exhaust housing. It's not unusual to see a small amount on the floor-even without doing the decarb treatment.
