I have been reading a lot here about decarbing and it sounds like a good ideal, that is also the majority impression I get also. Which is better though the kind you spray or the kind you mix up and run though the gas tank or a milk jug? Is the mix for more detailed work. I have a 1959 35H.P. Johnson that judging by the pistons when I had the head off has never been decarb.

I just decarbed 56 30hp last week. I used the tank method. Smoked out the neighborhood. Haven't used the spray method. Some folks swear by it. Both methods do achieve the same results. Different strokes for different folks.

I am planning on doing the "tank" method at the lake. As I understand it I'm supposed to troll around for 15 min then let sit for 15 min and restart. When I restart my motor do I run it on the "cocktail" or switch over to the regular premix? Do I cruise or blast around at wot? What do I look for? I notice that most people are doing this on the muffs. Anything wrong with doing this at the lake. Muffs make me nervous. Thanks

i think the tank method is better simply cause it cleans all the insides of the carbs and all the fuel hoses at the same time, along with the fuel pump... i run it through the tank, then when i turn motor off i spray it directly in plug holes.....

best of both worlds

m ikey
