With all the talk lately about decarbing different vehicles, I had some time today so this is what I did.
1993 Ford Ranger 5sp, 4 ltr with 193,000 miles give or take. I bought it with 98,000.
Has always had a rough Idle and pinged badly going up hills so I had to shift down to stop it but ran very well and used very little oil.
I did it through the power brake booster hose.
I increased the Idle and slowly poured about two pints of water in the hose using a small funnel. Then when that was done I poured about 3/4 of a can of real Seafom through it and shut it off. After about an hour I had an errand to do and it smoked out the neighborhood there and most of the way back. Got lot's of attention.
Surprise surprise, it now Idles smoothly and gets 50 MPG
. Not really, but the Idle is very noticeably smoother. I'll run the cr*p out of it on the way home tonight.
