I am looking at buying a Hurricane Deck Boat model SD237, however I am wondering what other manufactuers make deck boats that are similar or better than the Hurricane

Hey, I've also been looking at these and I have found another one made by PrinceCraft that you should check out. They are aluminum semi-V hulled boats and look pretty nice (I've looked at them and they appear to be very solid). they are a little less expensive than the Hurricanes, though still pricy, but worth a look. I'm still trying to decide myself - check them out and repost what you think, Rich

I can think of a couple of similar boats.

Four Winns

HarrisKayot

Caravelle

Monterey

There are others also.

I would say that the Hurricane and Harris companies are probably the most experienced with this type of boat.

OB or I/O? Hurricane offers both, most builders are I/O only. All deckboats are multipurpose. However Hurricane lends itself better to fishing than most. There certainly are more prestigious deckboats, which mostly stress entertainment features over fishing. I looked at the princecraft but did not like the aluminum hull as the lake i am at can get very rough so i would prefer something heavier than the al. hull.

also i am leaning towards the i/o and something that leands itself well to fishing.

A design at least somewhat similar to Hurricane is the Glastron DX 235 . Also Seaswirl had plans for their own version, the 233 . But I don't know that the Seawirl ever actually made it to market. Not saying these boats are better than Hurricane. Or even as good. Just the most similar designs currently on the market.

Kelly

I have built a web site to display my photos from our boat show. Click on any of the thumbnails on any of the album pages and an enlarged version of that photo will popup.

WARNING - lame server - pages may take vvveeerrryyy long to load :(

Deckboat review home--

Kelly Cook

I owned a '96 Chris-Craft bowrider (OMC era). Fancy boat, but way too many gel coat issues to call it "top of the line".
