Re: deck carpet removal
i have a 2011 tracker pro guide v175wt. i use the boat for catfishing and the front deck gets soaked while catching bait. my idea is to remove the carpet and put down a thin layer of metal over top the wood and rhino line or lineX it so the water will run off of it. has anyone ever done anything like this or am i getting in over my head with something that wont work? any suggestions greatly appreciated. this is my first boat so i have no idea what im getting into
the addition of the metal , while seemingly a good idea, is not.
the metal will create a space between the wooden deck and the outer layer of rhino lining.
so the deck will seemingly move when you walk on it.......as well ..it will trap water between the metal and the wood floor......this will rot out the floor in no time....
if you want a really good barrier to the deck....just gellcoat the floor....paint it on....and done forever.....its about 60 bux a gallon.....and you can do the whole deck with a gallon.
(if you use epoxy like woodie suggests....dont go the gellcoat....just rhino line or natulex, the gellcoat wont bond to the epoxy)
either that ....or just add the rhino lining to the deck it self.....but no metal
