Deck coating?

I just rebuilt the inside of my boat, stringers up and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestion as to what would be the best product to put over the decking. The decking is plywood fiberglassed over with a layer of chopped strand mat. I am looking for some sort of a rubberized textured roll on type of material, waterproof. Any suggestions? Thank you

I'm going with gelcoat with non skid on my resto... vinyl flooring is nice but it's pricey...

I may do some sort of snap in carpet or something down the road but only if I can't stand how bright the glare is.. that's the only downside I can see...

Thanks for the replies. I bought a gallon of evercoat non-skid rubberized deck coating/paint from my local paint store, brought it home and the bottom of the can was 1" thick of rubber that was very hard to break up. The paint store is mixing it well and breaking up all the pieces. Hopefully it turns out okay

One thing to consider before applying a rubberized coating: if/when it fails (i.e., peels or wears through in spots), how will you repair it. Gel coat or paint can be sanded and reapplied, carpet can be pulled up and replaced.

But these rubberized coatings are hard to remove completely, the can't be sanded and I don't think patching them will look very good. I only mention this because after spending time on a restoration, it would be a shame to use a product has few options for repair. (I know this from firsthand experience...)

JASinIL2006 you did not research threads here on the forum about products like that.
Looks great the first few days/longer then fails. I think @ Jasin pretty much said it all.

Textured gelcoat is probably the best and longest lasting.
If you use a paint finish, you can add a texture additive or sand to provide a decent grip.
Just make sure you use a decent topside marine oriented paint and build up the texture a little at a time as opposed to trying to get too much texture or sand in one coat.
Either way you might want to experiment with how much texture you want on a scrap section of plywood that you could do a quick layer of CSM on.
My 2 cents worth...

Sorry, but that is incorrect. I researched extensively, here and on the web. There was not much info to be found, especially from folks who had actually used the product. Lots of armchair quarterbacking, not much actual experience. Even less info on how the product held up over time.

Offsides... Ten yards penalty! Jas... Reread. I'm in agreement with you. I don't have an armchair anyway.:D

Well I appreciate all your responses. I Tried out the Evercoat Skid No More and it came out very gritty and was not quite the coating I was looking for. I did end up painting over it with an Outdoor patio paint from home depot. It looks good, may or may not hold up, but if it turns out not working I could strip it down and diva textured gelcoat. Look is not my concern because this will be a fishing machine. As long as moisture does not make it under the decking I'm happy.
