Deck Delamination

I am new to this forum. I live in Ontario Canada near Lake Simcoe and recently purchased a 2001 Celebrity 280s.

During the pre-purchase purchase survey some areas of delamination were found on the cockpit floor and cabin roof. I had the boat evaluated by an fiberglass repair expert and the surveyor and they reported that there was no structural issues related to the problem and that it most likely occurred during the manufacture of the boat. They recommended that I have one area in the cockpit floor injected with epoxy as it was a high traffic area. Any opinions on this issue?

Thanks in advance

Re: Deck Delamination

If you trust and are satisfied with the survey I would say go for it. I would suspect being in Ontario you have similar weather patterns to me in VT.

I would almost suspect that the delamination is from water infiltration and freezing. it only takes a little bit of freezing weather to do that damage. Yes the epoxy trick "might" cure it.

Re: Deck Delamination

Fortunately the the surveyor did not find an moisture readings in any of the voids. That would have been a deal breaker given our climate.. -15 Celsius as I type... I am definitely going to get the cockpit area filled and just leave the cabin roof alone

Thanks for your comment.
