I have a 2002 VIP Bay Stealth fiberglass center console. A have a number of small areas showing wear in the form of brown discoloration on the deck. Some are just stains, some have the look to them as, as can be seen in the attached picture, as if there may be water getting into cracks in the deck.

How can I clean these and somehow eliminate them from coming back? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Any hardware near the stain? For rust stains you can use "Iron Out" or Navel Jelly. For fish blood and such Oxi-clean works pretty good if you let it sit.

No iron or metal of any kind near the stains. They are on the deck in various shapes and sizes.

That's a rust stain. Rusty water is leaching out from inside the glass... maybe from fasteners that are wet, or maybe the water itself is rusty from elsewhere in the boat.

You can clean the rust with naval jelly, but it will reappear until you get rid of the water underneath the glass... probably with replacement of the wood and re-sealing with new glass.

I'd consider drill testing for water.

Well, you were right. I put the boat on the lake and drilled several holes through the bottom and everyone of them leaked water......:D

Seriously, if water is getting under the fiberglass to the wood below, I don't know how it would get there. Perhaps there are a couple of leaks at some fasteners. But where would I drill holes to test for water in the subdeck and what size holes does one drill to make this check? Thanks for the help.
