Re: deck paint question

FWIW My parents had their in ground swimming pool painted by some outfit they contracted (I don't know the name) anyhow they rolled the stuff on top to bottom and around the walkways, its slip resistant with some sand like feeling easy on the bare feet too. So you mighnt want to check around the inground pools scene for some pool paint, the stuff has got to be durable as all get out to withstand chlorine and other chemicals that go into a pool.
Just a thought.

There are anti-slip deck paints at your boat supply store. I used a light grey colour but it still gets hot in the sun. I thought a painted floor would be better than carpet since it would dry out faster but now I'm thinking of carpeting the floor anyways since it's too hot on bare feet.

Get some play pen sand and make sure that it is dry. Tape off the area you want to paint and put down a medium coat in a section that you can work with. While it is still wet broadcast a light coat of the sand on top and go over it with a brush or roller - again while still wet. Repeat with the next section until done.

I did the deck of my 23' CC this way with regular grey Rustoleum and it came out just fine.

Re: deck paint question

I have not tried this but I have heard of people using salt shakers and flour sifters to broadcast aggregate in textured paints. Personally I would pick up a quart of Interlux Interdeck. The anti-slip texture is already in the paint, all you have to do is keep it mixed. If Interdeck is not mixed in the color you want, Interlux makes anti-slip additive you can add to any paint. Sand will work as suggested I am sure, but it must be completely dry.

Can interlux interdeck be used on a fiberlass deck?

Re: deck paint question

you can just roll on some gelcoat and it will have plenty of non-skid just by itself..
