OK. Once the stringers and transom are done. I as going to coat the bottom of the deck with resin. Do I bond it to the stringers and around the edges?

Re: deck question

Hey Jimmy,

I've got no business trying to tell anyone how to rebuild their boat... I can tell you how I'm going to do mine :) After I get the deck measured and cut to fit, I'm going to coat the bottom with resin and put down a layer of CSM. Once that's cured and ready, I'll put a layer of peanut butter on top of all the stringers and around the edge where the deck meets the hull for the prepped deck to lay on. I'm wrestling with whether or not to screw it into the stringers as well. I'm probably going to put a screw or 10...but we'll see. I'm even considering just using the screws to hold it down while it cures and then removing them and filling the holes with resin or the 3M 5200 (or whatever people are using) Once that's down and in the correct position, i'm going to use peanut butter to fill any gaps and fillet the edge where the deck meets the hull and transom. some heavy weights to hold it all down while it cures and a cold beer or two while I cross my fingers. Tabbing to the hull/transom after that. Filling the voids with pour foam next. Finally covering the whole deck in glass before applying a durabak bedliner material to finish it off.

As everyone will say on here...post some pics so we can see the good work :)

Re: deck question

I second that ^^^^ CSM as long as you are using polyester resin. If using epoxy don't use csm as it's not compatible. Use something compatible with the epoxy.

my 2 cents
