Deck Repair in high traffic area

So my deck cracked today while I was walking over it and it's in a very bad spot. What would be the course of action for this repair? I assume re-coring the area is the correct method. But on a 50 year old 300 dollar boat is there a kosher way to brace and seal the area? I envision something with large aluminum angle or a chunk of marine ply with a 1x1 inside the cabin, with screws (or bolts) going through the deck and the hull and sealed with some sort of epoxy. I walked the rest of the deck after this happened bare foot and felt no other soft spots.

Thoughts?

what are you working on?

yes, re-coring would be best. however if rot is on an upper deck of a pocket cruiser, you probably have a bit of rot down below. boats rot from the keel upware.

It's a 1970 Bristol 24 sailboat. It looks like this area has been bad for awhile though and there have been attempts in the past to seal it.

most likely your looking at a deck re-core which is extensive work.
