Hi all . I am looking at fiberglassing the deck of a 50 foot Hudson Pilothouse sailboat and would love to know which glass and resin would best suit this job . Also any clues as to where the best prices for these supplies would be very appreciated. I have glassed plenty of surfboards so I am familiar with fiberglass but boat glass is a whole new world for me. I am a little bit stumped and worried about trimming it out around the hull as I don't want any leaks. It was teak previously and i think plywood underneath. If I come across soft spots in this plywood , I guess I should cut it out and replace it .Any tips on how to tackle this monster job and perform the above steps would be a great help and I will be eternally grateful. Thanx in advance , T

Re: Deck Restoration Project

Wow...that's a big project. Given the size you might want to try US composites. Much cheaper than MAS or West, top store brands and most have reported good results. You might get some good books on the subject. This is more than the normal soft spot in floor and bad transom repairs typically posted here. But if you are really commited then this is the spot for good information. Pictures are a must and I recommend you start a shareaproject link. Seeing is helpful when asking for tips.
