deck revamp on bass boat

I have a bass boat and it has a pretty small casting deck on the front and on the sides of the bow are hinged storage and a walkspace in between them.

Its a bass boat, not a fish and ski.

I was thinking about framing it all flat and making the whole front end a deck...my question is do screws catch and grab into fiberglass fairly well?

some of the decking would probably have to be connected to fiberglass and I was just curious.

thanks

you can do that... the screw will grab the fiberglass but over time they will start to chew through and become just a hole. if you can sucure the other side of the fiberglass with a block, some small peice of plywood of similar to allow the stress and pressure to dispurse over a larger portion of the fiberglass. or you can use some thing like 1/4 in bolt and a large area washer on the inside of the fiberglass where you want to succure it to. good luck.

use some adhesive if you're sure you want it forever.
3M 5200 if you're feeling rich, or even construction adhesive.
either will make it more permanent, and take the load of the screws which will work over time.
