I installed a couple of Delco EST distributors on my newly rebuilt Crusader 270s (350 Chevys).

I have not tried to start the engines yet. But I'm a little worried about something. There are only 4 "teeth" on the reluctor in the distributor. Does the Delco EST for a V8 only have 4 teeth?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Delco EST Distributor

Rodbolt,
I would really appreciate that.

I'm begining to think that four is enough, each one fires two cylinders at once. For example, when number 1 is at TDC compression, number 6 is at TDC exhaust. 1 and 6 are 180 degrees apart on the distributor cap. If both these cylinders fire at this time, number one will produce power and number six will just have a harmless spark as the exhaust valve closes.

With all that said, it would still be nice to hear someone with an EST on a V8 say "four".

Just discovered this forum. Seems like a real nice group.

Thanks again,
mike
