I want to get a new depth finder the one i have the screen went out. I was looking and found a couple that have through the hall transducers where do you put this item in the engine compartment on the bottom. Do these really work I really want to get one installed. I have a bayliner capri and dont really know where to put this at....... Please help and give me your ideas thanks alot.:confused:

Some work and some don't. To see if it works you can fill your bilge partially with water and shoot through the hull and then lower the transducer over the side and compare performance.

Best performance is mounted on the stern of the boat.

If you don't have a flat area to bond the transducer in the bilge, you will have to build a box and epoxy it down in the bilge area, fill it with a liquid and mount the transducer so it sits in the liquid...not a great option.

Test first. I tried a number of spots in my capri bilge and could not get any decent readings. Will be mounting a transom transducer this spring.
