depth finder flashes 0.5

My in-dash depth sounder just keeps flashing 0.5.<br />I think it is a Lowrance with just two buttons on the front---with up and down arrows. I've tried pushing the buttons in all sequences and all it will do is change from meters to feet and turn the shallow and deep water alarms on and off.<br /><br />Is it shot? The transducer is the kind that sticks out under the bow with the little black U-shaped eye.<br /><br />Thanks for any help.

This must have been a stupid question.<br /><br />I bought the boat used and there is no instruction manual with the depth finder, so I am lost.<br /><br />Buess I'll throw the thing away and put in a new depth finder.<br /><br />Thanks for all the replies.
