Here's a good one. Last fall, closing up my boat for the long Michigan winter, I took everything out including the depth finder and compass and put them in a 5 gallon bucket. I was going to go through the bucket and put things away later, but got involved with something else. The bucket ended up getting pushed under our porch. (I suspect the kids, but my wife is looking very suspicious). Around the end of January, I happen to drop something near the porch. As I bent to pick it up, I noticed the bucket. "Hmmm, what's this bucket doing under here?" Pulled it out, and it was full of mostly ice and a little water. Dumped the ice out, and there is my depthfinder and compass, frozen like a wooly mammoth in the middle of the block of ice.
Let it thaw, but haven't got a chance to try it out yet. There's this whole thing about my motor and a lightning strike, but that's another story.
Maybe I need to take up golf or something instead of boating??
