depth / fish finder install

I have a garmin depth / fish finder to install on my 1999 crownline 192 BR. The instructions talk about cutting a hole in the bottom of the hull ( i don't think so!) or that some boats have a recess already built into the hull for installation of the probe. As I bought the boat used and have no manuals and the Crownline website is no help,
any suggestions as to how to install the probe?

thank you

Re: depth / fish finder install

my hummingbird depth gauge is a thru hull, no cutting. the signal goes through the fiberglass, won't work with ANY air between it and the hull. mine let me chose between thru hull (no cutting or drilling) or transom mount (drilling required) installation.

is that probe for water temp?

Which Garmin model is it? Normally they come with transom mount transducer. At least mine did.
