What depthfinders do you guys use on your 'toons? I'm getting close to the end of a restoration, and I want to add a depthfinder to it. The main function will be keeping an eye on the bottom - marking fish would be nice, but not mandatory.

Hey "Kazeej" we've got a Hummingbird 385 GPS/Depth-fishfinder. We love it. It was standard equipment.

If you are only looking for depth and not fish information, then I recommend a cheapie from Wally World.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. My other boat, a 1989 Javelin, has an old LCD Humminbird on it. It's great at showing the bottom, and fish are displayed as varying sizes of dots. This is about as much as I would want, I think.

Thanks for the replies!

I had a an old Lowerance that would lose bottom contact when moving at about 5mph so i decided to get a new one....bought a Garmin Echo 150 at Wallyworld for around $100. and I`m totally pleased with it . It reads bottom at 30mph in fresh and 25 mph in salt water...has a dual transducer for up to 500ft ..the other for up to 1300 ft and even tells surface water temps....also has a voltmeter built in and lots of features i haven`t yet used. I`d certainly recommend it to my friends !!!!
