detonation problem

I am having a detonation problem with my 1989 260hp 350. It has a Holley 4bbl and the stock profile cam. The engine was installed Aug 04. When I get down on the hammer she will ping and rattle. When I try to run WOT it will ping. I am using 87 -89 octane but sounds like diesel fuel. The timing is set at 8 degrees. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

too hot a temp dosent help. what compression ratio? try setting a 4 deg. if it helps you need a higher octane or some octane boost.

Either Fatten the Fuel Curve,.......<br />Or,...<br />Cut the Timing back till it Stops.........<br />Or,... Both.......<br /><br />If you Don't Fix it,.... You'll be Replacing the motor,...... Again...........
