deutsch connectors

I need to remove a wire/socket from a spare Deutsch connector and add it to an unused spot on another Deutsch connector. OMC removal tool (0342667) is US$24 plus shipping. Surely some of you clever folks have found ways to deal with these connectors without the specialized tool. Any ideas?

I had looked at a bunch of videos, etc. before I posted, but the video I looked at right after I posted explained it (near the end):

You need to remove the wedge lock, and then it's easy!
