Hi guys. I'm in the process of completing a deal on a used boat that has a 150 Johnson OceanPro, 2000 model, purchased in late 2001.

The seller has 14 hours on the motor and did not take it out even once last summer. I spoke to his mechanic, an authorized Johnson dealer and he assured me that the motor was properly prepared when stored. I did not press him for details because he was rather surly. Lord knows how this guy wins new customers.

I plan to take the boat to a different mechanic for obvious reasons and I want to make sure that I give him all the right info.

Of course, I will explain the circumstances of the motor but I wanted to ask the group if there is anything specific that I should ask him to check and what I should emphasize in terms of dewinterizing tasks.

I understand that gummed up carbs can ruin a piston pretty quick.

Thanks,

Henry
