I currently own a 1995 19ft Hydra Sports powered by a 130HP Johnson 2 Stroke. I am considering repowering with a 2003 Suzuki 140 Four Stroke, and I was hoping someone can comment on this motor. The total weight of the boat, fuel (85 gals), and motor is about 2,855 lbs. Would this motor be sufficient to re-power ? Any comments on this particular motor ?

Thanks Chris

The DF140 is a wonderful, smooth, economical and user friendly engine, Striper. It is small displacement and very light for a 4 stroke 140, though, so it needs to wind up to give full performance.

I would expect a bit less accelleration than the Johnny 130, but a higher top end and a lot smaller gas bill.

I have a 2002 DF 140 with just over 1000 hrs. It's on a Larson 18' CC and about 1875 lbs dry. At the time the 140 hp was the only 4 stroke as near a 150 hp, that what my boat is rated for. If I was to repower now I would get the 150 hp.
