The obvious is the carb cleaning. I was waiting to see how that turned out. Also we never did determine if it has the correct flywheel and if the magnets were loose or not.

hello<br /> my spelling bites but I know wrenching. I dont hot rod much anymore as I work to much it bites not having time to have fun. if you can hit the primer and make the motor perfom its not ignition its fuel. I posted the info you requested. take it or leave it. Dhadley told ya the same. give up on primer bulbs and check the system for minute air leaks that would allow the carb fuel bowls to run low. but if you say you pump the fuel system primer and you still have to bump the "choke" then its not that either. this is a simple engine. its not any voodoo. all the "choke" is is a solinoid acting on a valve. open the valve and it squirts fuel under pressuer directly into the intake. but I went through all that already.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Hello thanks for hanging in there with me!!!<br />the fly wheel turns out to be the right one!<br />it's new magnets are in place! Ran decarb threw<br />it! same problem! mechanic says all thats left<br />is to rebuild carbs!!!!$$$$$ 580.00$$$$ Ive replaced every thing on this motor will it ever end!!????$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ what is the general<br />cost of a rebuild?????? also the motor works perfect 40% of the time it's like a ghost comes and goes!<br /><br /> Thanks Bogart.

Mechanic says last mechanic used 2.7 original<br />carb parts with 3.0 bowls and mis matched jets<br />basically he wants to get 6 new carbs!! 1600.00<br />for the carbs to make it spec!!!!<br />hes gonna try some tricks to get me going<br />but does any body know were I can buy some salvaged 2.7 litre carbs????????? omc sea drive<br />1987.<br /><br /> Thanks Bogart

hello<br /> dude sounds like some one is gonna saddle ya up and ride. call Ron at rons marine. he has quite a bit of that stuff about. be aware that those years sometimes the engines did not have what the parts book called for. get all the numbers from the carbs. get the wrong numbers as well as the correct numbers he is trying to sell ya. call ron . 1600 is a bit high for a carb job. has the motor ever run correctly since you owned it? when did the poor running problem start. if it ran well once with those carbs it can again.<br /> good luck and keep posting

hahaah hello again<br /> Rons marine is in Portsmouth Virginia. I have delt with him since about 1991. he and robert are about as knowledgable as they come. he does all my machine work. I worked with him in the 90's. I still dont belive you need carbs.<br /> but I am not looking at them and I wont comment other than I tole ya long time back it was carbs <br />good luck and hopefully someone will have the answer to your delima

I doubt we need new carbs but just an FYI --<br /><br />Pro Marine sells brand new complete V6 looper carbs, including throttle bodies, for less than half that. Late model and new!

See a knowledgable dealer as back in '86 and '87, like was posted previously, OMC had carb problems and changed out jets and carbs with those series of motors. For quite a few years at the annual service seminars, they gave out lists that showed carb numbers and jets that were OK to use with the motors. You'll have to find a dealer who has been in business for a while and keeps good records of the service literature.
