Looking for some prop help, I was talking to Kenny but he seems to have disappeared, hope everything is allright with him. Anyway here is a copy of thread if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. I'm thinkin Turbo 1 but not sure whether to go 17" or 19". Thanks, Rich

Hi Kenny, I think I am more interested in the Turbo. Goldsmith has a very similar boat to mine ( http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=194041 ) size, weight and power and as you said probably would happen he lost some top end and didn't seem to gain a ton on the bottom. Could you let me know which Turbo you think would be best to try ? Thanks, Rich

Rich....This "IS" Kenny, aka walleyehed...sorry I haven't been on the forum much..it's been a mad-house in the shop..
The Turbo is going to be an application specific prop...we can go that way, but we have to fine-tune everything and choose the right Turbo for the job. Yes, they are faster and tend to perform better over-all because they are a much higher tech prop.
I've got to get 7 props out this am, so I'll get back with ya.
Kenny

Ya I was hoping to have my cake and...well you know. I wouldn't want to lose any bottom end, It's a heavy boat and doesn't exactly leap out of the water now.I asked walleyehed what he thought about theTurbo 1 on this and he was going to get back to me but hasn't replied yet. He was looking up the serial # from the quicksilver I am running. How do you think the Turbo 1 would compare to the Bay pro ? I don't mind losing that 150 rpm as 4900 is pushing it for this engine. In fact it's supposed to be 4200-4600 rpm range, but because of the change in altitude at different lakes I need to stay a little higher so I won't be lugging it when I am down lower. Would the Turbo lose bottom end in a 17"? 19"? and rpm. I do think that this boat needs some more lift, bow and overall. Let me know what you think and, Oh yeah, I need some prices on these options. I'm assuming having the factory rework prop ( if we need to ) is going to cost me, also I need to leave some room in case we don't get it quite right on the first shot and I need to swap the prop. Thanks for getting back to me, appreciate your help, Rich

Rich, after re-reading your notes here, I see you want the same or more top-end....I can get ya more top-end but we'll lose hole-shot. The major advantage of the 4-bld is hole-shot and mid-range...on an I/O they tend to be a bit slower on top-end-not "always" the case-but 95% of the time, that's a result of adding the extra blade even in a lower pitch.
An 18P Bay Pro II will bring it down about 100-150+/- but it may lift better on the rear-heavy boat.
We might be able to get an 18P worked by the factory to act more like a 17P which may be a good option.

Hello, I'm interested in a new prop, have been considering a Stiletto Bay Pro. My current setup is 1995 Wellcraft 232 Eclipse. 3900 lbs ( unloaded ) Mercruiser 5.7 Alpha 1 Gen 2. Current Prop Quicksilver stainless 17 "Pitch. I am running 4600 - 4900 rpm depending on lake altitude ( 3000 - 3500 ft ) and conditions.About 48 mph at best. I am looking for uqual or more top end but I also do a lot of tubing. Do you think the Baypro would be appropriate and in what pitch. The boat came from factory with a Mirage 19" pitch. Also what is your Test Prop program. Thanks for your help, Rich
