DI oil in a carbed motor

Someone just gave me a 2.5 gallon jug of West Marine DI oil. Was figuring I would just use it for the pre-mix in my '97 Johnson 115.

Is there any reason not to use it in a carbed motor? I know most DI's don't mix fuel and oil, will this oil mix with gas correctly to use as pre-mix?

It's a synthetic blend, not sure who makes it for West Marine, but I am assuming it's a decent oil. I know they are designed to handle the higher ring land temps in DI motors, just wanted to see if there is any difference in them that would make them harmful if mixed with fuel and run through a carb, I'm assuming not, and most likely it's probably just a standard Syn blend oil with a different label, just checking to be sure.

Thanks, Mike.

I know that Mercury's OptiMax oil is not to be premixed. Other than that I have nothing to offer.

Re: DI oil in a carbed motor

Thanks Willy. Well since the Opti is a DI engine, I wonder if DI oil shouldn't be mixed with fuel. Although the guy who gave me the oil was running it through Yami OX66's, and they aren't DI and mix the fuel and oil in the VST.

He decided to use only Yamalube, so he gave me this 2.5 gallon jug he had. Not sure why he was running DI oil in those engines in the first place.

Why don't you contact the oil's manufacturer and save any possible grief from making the wrong decision.

Is it labeled TCW3? If so, my understanding is that any TCW3 oil can be premixed. If not, I'd second the recommendation to contact the manufacturer.
