Did anyone hear what Saddam Hussein said in court today?

Describing the court proceedings and what Hussein said:

When attention finally returned to Hussein, he explained how Jesus and the prophet Muhammad believed in forgiveness.

"I call on all Iraqis -- Arabs and Kurds -- to forgive, reconcile and make up," he said.


Another news site translation said this:

Saddam then calmly spoke about how the Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ asked for forgiveness for those who had opposed them.

“I call on all Iraqis, Arabs and Kurds, to forgive, reconcile and shake hands,” Saddam said before resuming his seat.

The former president's demeanor was far different from his combative performance Sunday.

What in the world has gotten into him?

What in the world has gotten into him?

Maybe he is, for the first time in his life, seeing that he is mortal just like the rest of us, and being dead lasts forever.

It is common for people to try to make up for years of bad behavior when they know they are going to die soon.

Unfortunatelly for Sadam, "bad behavior" means murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

Kind of hard to make up for that in his 30 day appeal.

huh? maybe I'm crazy too, but I totally get it.

When you're the dictator you don't have to care whether anybody ever forgives anybody...when you need forgiveness...it's another story...

The kind of "forgiveness" Jesus taught (as I understand it), won't save him from the hangman, though.
