I purchased the McGuard prop locking nut and installed it this weekend, but I had a question to find out if I did it correctly.
I have a '95 Rinker Captiva 190 with Alpha 1 Mercruiser outdrive. The instructions said to remove the "tabbed washer". I wasn't sure what that was or if my boat has it. So let me describe what I have. Starting from the base of the prop shaft:
1. Large washer that has grooves for the prop shaft splines (figured it didn't make sense to remove this)
2. A flat wahser that has a bunch of tabs with a couple bent over to lock into the prop shaft spline washer (this might be what they were talking about, but if I remove it the next piece sits recessed in the first washer and it doesn't look like the locking nut will hold tight)
3. Concaved washer that came with the locking prop nut (with item #2 above in the washer sits essentially on "top" of item #1, without #2 then this washer sits recessed into #1)
4. Locking prop nut.
I am thinking the instructions was referring to item #2, but with #3 recessed it appears the locking nut won't sit tight against #3 and instead will sit up against #1. Picture is attached, just wanted to know if I did it correctly. Thanks
