Hard to say really. It could just be that it was something they have been looking for and unable to find. With the thought that I'd better get there before it's gone. Is it a good price? Probably. I myself have missed out on a few good buys just because I couldn't get there in a timely fashion.

It's always tough to know how to price something you want to sell isn't it? Too low and you leave money on the table. Too high and it takes forever to get it sold. A lot of it depends on where you are, but I know around here anyone would be tickled pink to get that for any used boat trailer. I think ya done good. Now, quit thinking about it or you'll drive yourself nuts. Been there done that.

Wait until you have the $2000 cash in hand before you think you sold it too low, this buyer may never show, or try to barter some once they get there.

Maclin's got a great point. I've had tons of "I'm coming over"s before and had I waited for them, I'd probably be pretty hungry about now. A "good deal" is defined as any deal. So, having said that, I'm left to assume you felt the trailer was worth $2000 and whoever buys it will feel it's worth that as well. If it's still sitting there this time next week, maybe you need to rethink it, if it's not, then you did what you set out to do and all is well.

But, be careful, because if this person or someone else comes over and sees and then offers a few bucks less than your asking price, and if you're of the thinking "But I've had so many responses, I think I'll wait..." those could be famous last words. I've also had folks refuse and offer I've made, just to find out a couple of weeks later, they're offering to sell it for LESS than what I offered to begin with. Money in hand is always worth 2 in the bush.

They already came and got it, did not talk me down at all, even with the OBO in the post. Said he was going to the west coast to pick up a boat. That is why I was worried that it was to low. I think your right, I think it was just the right person at the perfect time.

I think it was more of a right place right time deal. I just bought an engine hoist Satrday right after the ad popped up on Craigslist. Wasn't the cheapest one but my brother just blew the motor in his truck and I had time to pull the engine on Sunday and the guy lived close to me so as long as it worked I was planning on buying it lol.

I will echo what was said about about not second guessing things. I just sold my single axle galvanized trailer for up to 18' boat for $300. Frankly, it seemed a little small for that, but that is what it was listed at when I bought it. I made a nice profit so I was excited. Could I have received more? Maybe, but I was happy with what I had and that is really all that matters. Congrats on selling it!

How big of trailer was it? I just picked up a 2001 Shoreland'r 6,800lb capacity tandem axle (both have brakes) calvanized roller trailer with like new radial tires for a 25' boat and everything including ALL of the lights & brakes work for 2K - the thing looks like new.

Re: Did I post it for to low

When it comes to price I always find two types of buyers, those that want it for free, and those that realize what a new one costs and are glad to get a good trailer for less.
Every time I list a trailer, I get a bunch of replies with low ball offers. List it for $1000, get $200 offers, plus the con game emails. List it for a few bucks over what you want and people seem to no longer know the art of bargaining and never reply.
About one in fifty or so just show up and pay the asking price and leave, glad they didn't have to buy a new one.

I've got a dozen old used trailers listed cheap. What I'm finding now is that listing a trailer cheap gets me cheap people. I've got several old painted trailers listed at $200-300 as is. I get emails asking if all the rollers are good, do the lights work, and how old are the tires.
As if they expect a $200 trailer to be fully restored.

Be glad you found a serious buyer who just paid and was on his way. It usually don't work that way these days.

Look at it this way , you got the full price you were asking, how can you complain?

How many other people replied to the AD?
If he was the one and only response, you hit a home run on the first pitch!
