I just got back from Ace Hardware with a bottle of Sno-Bol. Read the ingredients and it states Hydrochloric acid. Is this the same as Oxilic acid?

Do you think the new formula will be safe on the gelcoat?

Curiosity is really getting to me this morning. What in the heck would you use SnoBol on your gel coat for? I have been told that hydrochloric acid works great to get that brown water stain off the hull from setting in lake water. But you can buy that cheap just about anywhere. Less than $5 a gallon.

Use gloves as WILL set your hands on fire!!

I agree, Boobie Trap. I get a gallon for about $15 and mix it with water at about 3 parts water to 1 part acid. Works great on water, rust, and fish blood stains.

i had yellow stains on the side of my hull,, i read alot of posts on here and everyone said to try muratic acid,, i tried it and the stuff works great,, you can buy it a lowes for about $7 a gallon,, mix it 50/50 with water, i put mine in a spray bottle and just sprayed it on,, you can watch the yellow dissapear in seconds,, if u have a galvinised trl make sure u keep it nice and wet, i waxed my hull after the acid treatment and it looks like new.

"The Works" has done well for me. I haven't tried mixing muratic on anything but the driveway, but I know my detailer used it on the SeaRay a few years back. The Works is available at most of the box stores and you could end up with some spotless toilets if you have some left over.
