What was "YOUR" lake like ?? Crowded, low etc. ??

Our favorite lake wasn't that crowded on Saturday, EXCEPT for the pesky jet fleas, that seemed to be out in force. Not nearly as many boats as I had expected, BUT, the temps were dropping, and the forecast for today, and Monday is for rain possibilities.

Re: Did you go the lake this week-end???

We went out both Saturday and Sunday. I was shocked at how few boats there were both days. There was literally twice as many boats last weekend. A few more Sun than, Sat, but definitely manageable. We had lots of fun!

You can always tell on a long weekend though.....people skiing in the 4-5' deep no-wake area and other assorted silliness.

One more weekend for us. Then it will be harvest time and the lake will be closed by the time we finish. No more boating 'till spring. The good news is that the nuke plant keeps the water warm year round, so we'll be back out in March or so.

I'm at my lake every weekend. Most is spent at the dock. Saturday was in the mid 90's and the lake was busy. I stayed in my cabin absorbing as much air condition as I could. Fishing was null so I didn't miss much. At 6 clouds moved in, it cooled down and fish started hitting. Couldn't ask for much more...:D........SS

Saturday only, Lake Belton. One of the best unknown lakes in central Texas, large and no one ever there.

We took the opportunity to go out a little on Saturday. It was busier than normal on an already busy lake which made things a little more inconvenient than normal, but Irene was pushing some wet weather our way so we thought we'd squeeze a cruise/swim in.

We survived.

I skipped the lake for just that reason. Hiked 40 minutes up a mountain to a couple of small ponds. We did ok. I got 3 bass, he got 2, and then some people let their dogs run out into the pond right next to us and the bites stopped. Sometimes you just want to slap the sh** out of people. Nice day all around. First time my dad had been fishing since he was 12, and he's 64 now. Showed him how to drop shot and he loved it. Definitely a day I'll never forget. Nice calm water too, until the dogs jumped in.

That first picture is incredible. Reminds me of that pond Andy always used to go up to on The Andy Griffith Show. Makes me wish I had the patience for fishing.

I live at the lake from May to November so I guess I was at the lake for Labor Day weekend. I was solo this weekend so a didn't venture out much. Even with some cooler temps, it did sound like some big power was moving about. It sounded awesome.

If I'm at the Texas place, we will venture out to Lake Stillhouse on a holiday weekend sometimes. The bigger lakes get a little crazy.

LL Labor Day 2011 at Todd's.jpg

Was at lake this weekend, but just took the jet skis out and played on the big waves crested by the winds from TS Lee. Too rough to even try putting the boat in.

Had lots of fun with family and friends anyway.

Re: Did you go the lake this week-end???

boated friday night.. saturday night and sunday......going out in a bit.

i live 5 mins from the lake......and we live in a major tourist area where the lake is the big attraction.

lots of boats near the ramp for a mile or so......but ok once you get farther out.

the jet skis were all over as usual....and for some reason.....each boat within a mile or so feels they must do a high speed pass within 30 feet of my boat....(mrs oops and i were "au natural" but the freeboard of my boat does not allow them to know or see anything).

just missed iboater robj. he had his boat up this weekend.... i looked for him but didnt see him....we kept missing each other.

now for day three !!!!

Spent Saturday night out, definetly slowed down since the tourists went home to send little jimmy and jenny back to school tuesday.
Built a 10 foot gang plank out of a manhole ladder, 1/2 inch ply wood and hooks off of my old pole ladder, "SWEAT", got within 3 foot of shore, no more up to the waist off the swim grid for this guy.

Knightrider??? Where is that? It has water!!!

We would have gone out but our local lake(s) are pretty low. Boat ramps are closed, etc. Stayed home and ate, instead. And cleaned house, fixed a couple of computers for work, read a book. Nothing as fun as boating...

Re: Did you go the lake this week-end???

We camped out Friday night and Saturday night at the lake. Spent Saturday on the water from 10 AM until the sun went down. Tubing and crusing, neighbor showed up with his pontoon, and another neighbor rented a boat for the day, so we had a regular flotilla going. Lake was busy, but I have seen it much busier. It got worse towards the end of the day, but I think TS Lee and low water levels (Lanier is 8' down) might've kept people away.

On a positive note, the boat behaved perfectly the entire day, with the only hiccup being that I forgot to put in the killswitch thingy in and couldn't start the motor when I first put it into the water. Found my problem when I re-ran through my launch checklist. Is kill-switch fail up there with forgetting to put in the plug (although I guess the boat won't sink if the kil-switch thingy is not in...)

Was out all 3 days and it was very nice , No jet ski`s or bass thugs just a lot of nice people enjoying the days., It was crouded but no problems at all. Meet several nice people at the boat owners party at the marina get together. Kicked back on the slip and had a few and watched ther ramp but noting out of the ordnary. Yea I am liking this 9.9 hp lake more and more ever trip out. It reminds me of the old days when all boaters were nice people I hope it went that way for ever one.

Scooper, I was at Lake Livingston with some friends. Lake is down 4' but still enough to get the boat in at the ramp I use. All of the public boat ramps have been closed down from what I here.

Gusts to 25 mph kept us off the water today... then the afternoon boomers moved in and sealed the day for us. There's always next weekend!!!
