Took the boat out yesterday to set some crab pots. It started easily at the dock and idled for about five minutes. We were able to shift into reverse, back away, shift into forward, run out the no-wake zone (about ten minutes) power up and run on plane for about 15 minutes and reduce to idle. The problem comes after this point. When I engage the outdrive either forward or reverse it dies. It will restart easily in neutral but die when engaged over and over. All the ignition stuff is new with the exception of the distributor. I have verified coil voltages and am certain there is fuel to the carb. The carb was recently rebuilt. This one has me stumped and frustrated.

Have someone watch to see if the shift interrupt switch is stayng activated when you shift. If so, time for a new shift cable - or adjustment at the very least.
