Dies when put in drive?

83 DT 85. Also needs a bit of gas so it won't die, then I put it in gear and dies. Anyone know what adjustment I need to make so it stays on? I just rebuilt the carbs, and think the seting are off. A bit hard to start, but when started idles fine.

i was able to get it to idle fine but died when i put it in drive.anyone know what causes this? then i was turning the three adjustments to see if it would help but nothing, messed it up more, now it wont start. tomarrow i will try the 1 1/2 turns and see what happens. i just can't figure out why it dies when you put it in gear.

set it to 1 1/2 turns and now i can't get it to start, also tried at 1 turn same thing, i just get a few pops out of it. could it be the timeing? anyone know how to set the timeing on a 83 DT85?
