I have a 1995 3.0 mercruiser LX. I/O. Today after running for several hours we decided to start tubing. After cutting the engine off 3 or 4 times to let kids load and unload on the tube, the engine started dieseling the 4th time and now will not restart at all. I thought maybe the choke was stuck but after messin with it, it seemed to be operational. Idk. I had to be towed in. Now several hours later, it still will not start. Any thoughts?

Meaning the motor does not spin over and you get a clunk?

Re: Dieseling 3.0 mercruiser

So after tons of research online my dieseling possibly maybe could be caused by shutting the engine off too quickly after running hard. If that is the case, what would cause it not to restart. 2 days later it still will not start but almost does. Just cranks and cranks. What should I look at? Any help is appreciated.

gotta start with fuel and spark. Pull the spark plug wire from the coil and see if she's sparking good. Pull the fuel pump hose from the carb, crank it , you should see a solid stream pump out...
