When I bought my 1987 bass boat with 90HP 3 cylinder Merc it came with both a 19P and 21P prop. The previous owner said he used one for regular running when fishing and the other when he wanted to pull the kids on a tube or skis. I don't remember which is which and would appreciate any help on which one is for more power and which one is for speed.

Prop pitch is like gear ratio in your truck, the higher the pitch the faster you will travel at given RPM. The lower the pitch is, the more torque you have. For pulling skiers you need torque, use 19P.

Generally you want to use the highest pitch prop that will allow your motor to reach rated WOT RPM.

That being said Jay Hawk, by putting on a 24P-26P prop does not mean your going to breaking the speed of sound, your motor will only produce so much power and only push your boat so fast no matter what pitch prop you have on it...........Irv964
