difference between 76 and77 70 hp rude

hey guys...........I found a good deal on a 1976 70 hp evinrude manual on ebay and I want to buy it. Problem is I have a 1977 70 hp evinrude. :) So what I would like to know is are these 2 motors similar enough that it won't make a difference and should I buy it????<br /><br />thanx for reading

I'm fairly sure that they changed the ignition systems a bit between 1976 and 1977. They also changed the lower units from hydro-mechanical style to straight mechanical style. Overall, I'd keep looking for one that'll match your motor...<br /><br />- Scott
