Difference in freshwater from saltwater?

We just relocated to TN from the TX coast. My boat has always been used exclusively in saltwater. Yesterday took the boat to the lake and noticed a performance difference. It took more throttle to get it up on plane and keep it there. I know all about the buoyancy difference in saltwater, but didn't think I would notice it in my boat. Anyone else experience this?

Salt water is denser, so boats float easier and are generally more buoyant.

Boats can plane easier on salt water.

But freshwater won't corrode everything it touches. You do not need to flush your motor after leaving the water.

Oh, the main difference is one has salt in it!

I can't help being a smarta**!

Ayuh,... My barge runs 43mph here in Lake Ontario,...
When I run in the Salt off Maine, it'll pull 52mph...

Ya, Salt is Much denser...

What altitude are you at in TN? Engines make less power at higher altitudes. While it may not be a lot, it's still at a higher altitude than the sea level you are used to running. And the last time I checked, the hills in eastern TN are really mountains!
