Hi ya All, I have a Johnson 70hp VRO circa 1989/ 1990. Can anyone tell me if this model changed much, or even at all during these 2 years?
Cheers.

Anything in particular youre looking at/for?

Hi ya my transatlantic friend, I have been trying to establish the model number of my engine without any success, I only have the serial number. My local Johnrude agent cannot/will not help me. I need to purchase a manual for this engine but I have noticed that the manuals end and start in 1990. I believe that my engine is 1990 so I was hoping that maybe one of you very knowledgable people on this forum could spot something on my engine that could pinpoint the exact year. I don't wish to purchase a manual and find it's of no use to me.
Cheers.

Re: Difference?

If your engine has not been rebuilt the model number is usually stamped on the freeze plug. It is about the size of a US 25 cent coin and located on or near the top of most engines. If you find it post it here and the guys will pin it down for you.

As a 'bye the way' I had to strip the carbs out again today for the second time, blockages again, and I noticed on one of the carbs the #7.27.89, knowing this is the way you write the date in the States could this be the manufacture date of the carb? the other two carbs had a different number on them.
End of this tale is that after carb strip down and clean she went like a dream, straight out of the hole and better fuel consumption.
I've taken some pictures of engine today and will post on here shortly/
Cheers.

Had a 1986 30hp Johnson and NO Johnson or Evinrude dealer would touch it down Southern England, had to take it to a Mercury dealer who trained as a Johnny tech years and years ago.
