Difference's between 2007 Tohatsu 8 and Mercury 8 4 stroke prop?

Besides the color, and the way the shifting is in the handle what are the differences between the two outboards? I looked at the prop chart for the mercury and it shows that the merc should have a 14 spline prop while the Tohatsu should have a 12 spline prop, but when I verified this on my motor the mercury has a 12 spline prop just as the Tohatsu does! So my question is what is keeping me from putting on a less expensive Tohatsu prop on my Mercury 8 hp? If there are any other differences please let me know!

Fed EX delivered my High Thrust 5 pitch 4 blade prop from Tohatsupartsonline.com today, and it slid right on. Fortunately for me, Mercury marine does not offer a 4 blade high thrust prop for an 8 horse. Luckily Tohatsu does, and Tohatsu's props are much less expensive! Can't wait to try it out!
