Difficult Throttle

2000 Reinell 205 5.0 Volvo/Penta engine and outdrive.

Shifter works fine with no problems but once we get to speed whether it be 20 mph or 35 mph the throttle is difficult to move forward or backwards. Makes it very difficult to maintain speeds when pulling my wakeboarding kids. I put a little grease where the two cables attach to the shifter and a little grease where the throttle connects at the engine but that did not help. I also made sure the cable wasn't tied to tight to anything else as it makes it's way to the motor. Thoughts?

Probably a bad cable.

Re: Difficult Throttle

How might temperature affect the throttle cable? When we experienced this problem we were on vacation at a lake about 5,000 elevation. Overnight temps were mid 40's and we were on the boat by 9 in the morning. Now back home, temp in mid 90's lows in 60's throttle was much easier to adjust.

Thoughts?
