diffrent head temp what normal?

Hello need advice 1990 225 evinrude I have 2 temp gauges one for each head the port head is always hotter the the other is that ok ? they run about 170 and 180 190 on the port side the wires for the gages are different lengths and have been spliced the motor has new water pump and new thermostats .the motor is being run on the trailer any thoughts thanks Rusty

Take it out on the water and try it. If you still have probs get an infared temp gun and check your head temps then. I don't trust temp gauges.

170 and 180 is high ...I have analog gauges with the factory recommended senders I have NEVER seen higher than 145 at idle in the Florida sun. 135 at wot. Boobie is correct you may need to use a laser thermometer to verify, cheap and handy from HF ...
