Digital Camera & Salt water don't mix

While on vacation at Hilton Head last week I took one day with my son and drove to local boat launch ramp with floating dock for a few hours bank fishing so to speak. Missed the best tide but we toughed it out anyway and kept trying as the tide dropped lower. About ready to call it quits when I noticed a strange object in barnacles about 4 ft deep. Snagged it with a lure and lo and behold a Canon 790 came to the surface. About a $300.00 camera. Well I stuck it in the shrimp bucket full of water and carried it back to Hotel and doused it with fresh water in the sink. Kept washing and finally let it sit overnight in water. Nope all the effort was wasted, got it home & let it dry for 3 days and opened it up. (Not pretty) Anyway, the card is good and I'm trying to locate the owner of the camera right now. He's an Eagle Scout and just graduated from high school this spring. I thing he is a member of Greater Smokey Mountian Tennessee troop 125 and his name is Brandon. I'm sure he and his parents would like the card back as it has all the vacation photo's on it plus the grad and awards presentation from the scouts.

Different story than normal anyway
Safe boating & fishing ya'll

Thanks Rocky Road, wanted you to know I looked real hard at pic's this am and after blowing up to max was able to read name of scoutmaster presenting award to this young man. Googled his name and had a telephone number in a matter of minutes. Knoxville Tenn. Anyway spoke to his wife tonight and am going to send chip to them to return to the boy. Think I should be a detective first class?

Good boating ya'll and don't try and bring a digital camera back to life after a day in the salt. Waste of time.

Great story! And hat's off to you!

It's nice to see someone being honest, and you went through some effort to return precious memories to the owner. That really is something special!

I sure bet they were very thankful!
