Is it possible in this day and age of computers to transfer pictures from your computer to a memory card in your camera so that if you want to take pictures with you to show other people, you don't need to print them. I have tried but no luck so far and maby it can be done but I haven't found a way yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Digital cameras

Yes its possible, what kind of camera do you have? If your pictures are on your hard drive and you have your camera hooked up to your computer with a USB cable all you need to do is go into My Computer and look for your camera under "Devices with removable storage" once you have located your camera locate the folders within the camera that hold the pictures and just copy and paste the pictures you want to add to that folder.

Some cameras require the use of their own software but they should have an option to add pictures to your camera.

If your computer has an SD card reader built in you can take the card out of your camera and put it directly into the computer and basically do the same thing that I mentioned above

Hope this helps

Re: Digital cameras

That's how digital cameras work. Even my old HP from 1999 had a compact flash memory card in it that could be removed and put into a computer. Instead of printing them, just pop out the card and find a card reader or a computer with a card reader installed and it will read it right from the card.

You can also usually download the photos direct from the camera into the PC. I've never heard of having to print photos from a digital cam in order to see them.

Re: Digital cameras Reply to j442w30

Thank you very much for your reply j442w30. I now can copy and paste to a memory card reader that I bought for this problem and will be able to in the future to go from computer hard drive to my camera if I want. My problem was that(found this out from more research and talking to camera people) that the pictures I want to put back to my memory card can't be done as it was taken by another camera and not the one I have now(Kodac to Cannon) and I am told this is to stop bad files going into the camera from another source and infecting the new camera. Makes sense I guess. My wife just recently died and I wanted to have certain pictures of her on my new camera and not have to take prints with me but I guess that won't happen now. Thank you very much for your help. Appreciated......Ed

Re: Digital cameras

I just now removed the CF card from my Canon and put it in the reader attached to my PC. Then I copied a pic (made with a Kodak Easyshare camera) from my PC to the CF card. I removed the card from the reader and put it back in the Canon. I was able to see the copied pic just like any others that I'd made with the Canon.

Not sure if this helps. BTW, the card reader I got from Radio Shack for 9.99 minus a $5 mail-in rebate = 4.99 plus tax.

Re: Digital cameras

I suspect that if you can change the Kodak pic to the format that your camera uses then you should be able to copy them to your camera in a format that your camera can use.
I have changed Kodak format pics to .jpg so that can be done and if your camera does not use the .jpg format then it does not seem like it would be too difficult to change them to whatever format your camera needs to display them.Ron G

If you need to change the size and/or format of a picture get a hold of a great little program call 'Pixresizer'. It's free and brilliant.

Re: Digital cameras

Avoid proprietary formats for images (and everything else for that matter). If you have a fancy camera use raw or tiff. For everyone else (me included) use the highest jpg quality you can. It'll all basically look the same on your screen, but if you ever decide to print one you'll appreciate it then. Remember, you can never increase the size of an image without losing quality.

That's my $.02 on that. :)
