I am getting ready to install a new trolling motor. The boat has had at least 3 different ones on it, so I filled the holes and made me a cardboard template. I got a free piece of dimond plate(use to be a tool box off of semi truck) and cut it to fit. I havent seen this done before but I think it looks good. What do you guys think?

It's hard to make diamond plate look bad on anything....very cool.

Looks nice! Have you thought of adding a piece to the otherside to match it?

Definitely add a piece to the other side if you can to match. Looks great! Might get a little hot on your feet though but then from the design of your boat you probably will be running the motor from the area behind the plate and not resting your feet on it..

Just a thought - will it blind you?? Consider the reflection. It looks great but, I would want to dull it down.

BMW,

Looks good. You will have to see if the weight on the one side causes a list or not. You may have to balance it out.

Peace.

Thats very different and unique, Is it aluminum? I was thinking the potential for rust.

Re: Dimond plate aluminum what do yall think

I have thought of the reflection it may give. But it looks so cool. I did it anyway. It is aluminum not steel. I do want to do the other side, but I only had enough to do one side. I only used it to cover the places that i fixed. I dont think it is heavy enough to be concerned about the weight. I mean the trolling motor is alot heaver and it didnt make a difference or affect it at all. It wasn't that shinny at first I used some mothers metal polish and a buffer to make it shine. Like I said it used to be the toolbox on a semi truck. Who knows I might start a new trend in the boating world. LOL. NOT..... Thanks guys

As long as that is a fresh water boat it should look good for a long time. In salt, I give it 3 outings...
