Dipstick tube came off

Here is my problem. I seemed to have pulled the entire dipstick tube off in my hand. I have an AQ131D. The tube comes from the top back of the motor to the front and it looks like it popped off right at the connection to the motor. It looks like I can get to the place it connects by removing a hose and wire harness but I can't tell how it was connected in the first place. Looks like it was just stuck in the hole. Could I use JB Weld or something similar to hold it in place? Or maybe wedge that can of tuna that's been rolling around in the bilge the last year. :D

Re: Dipstick tube came off

usually they had a bolt going thru a collar that held them in place.
was your motor replaced?

Re: Dipstick tube came off

I don't know if the motor was replaced. I just got it last summer. Too much rain to get outside today and see if I missed something but from what I remember it looks like it was just stuck down in the hole on the motor and held there by friction. I would have at least expected a set screw or bolt like you said.

If I don't get it sealed well will the oil come out the opening during operation?

Should not, but water could get in.....
If it is a friction fit, use the JB weld....;)
