Didn't feel right starting to misdirect @aspeck thread so new one

I said
I'm not going to buy a DI motor unless I would have to.

Bought a XT5 Wednesday for the Admiral from Ohio (800 mile trip) brought it home on a trailer.

Yesterday changed oil in the old SRX and noticed the engine cover on the V6 and have looked at it many times. VVT (Variable Valve Timing "Direct Injection" so I've owned this car for 9 years and it just now dawned on me. All this time and 188K miles and never did a thing to the intake. Replaced all wheel bearings 2 times, about every 80K

Oh well, XT5 has same motor and same wheel bearings, at least I know what to expect  I hope

The F150 3.5 Ecoboost started out with just plain direct injection. In 2017, they added additional port injectors to help drivability and to keep the intake valves clean. Toyota has been doing this for years.

This video shows that is does indeed help

I will be pulling the intake eventually to look at the intakes of my turbocharged Hyundai.
