DOING A COMPRESSION TEST AND NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN DISABLE IGNITION AS FOLLOWS using a 12 gage wire(heavy enough?)
as you can see on

web page i'm using the male end of a spark tester (best fit) then hooking the ground to the male end and the other end to a bolt on the engine. does this look like a good idea or is there some other way that would be better?
thanks
MAR T

What motor are you testing (year and how many cyls)?

The simplest way that I have used is to use the safety kill switch if it has one. Disables entire ignition system as opposed to one cyl at a time.

Turn the key off and jump the engine at the starter solenoid to spin it over.
