That's it.....I've had it, too much is too many, enough is enough, I can stand no more....

I don't EVER, EVER, EVER want to be disconnected from the internet, most exspecialy this fourm, again because of a hidden command somewhere on my computer that is executed after a few minutes of writeing on the "topic box" without previewing the post or clicking on something on the net.

Where is the little box or page or whatever on this confounded stack of recycled plastic staws and beer bottles that will permanitly erase the command to annoy the sh!t out of me every 5 minutes?

My warrenty does not cover baseball bats or Large hammers....and one of these times I am going to be in a bad mood and I will get disconnected....You see my delema.

maybe I need an anger management class or a stiff belt of whisky before I sit down in front of this thing....Hold on....I have to preview this post or I will be DISCONNECTED again.

To top off my bad mood I am watching the "coastal sportsman" on tv and they just refered to bobber fishing as something that is thought of only for freshwater and not for salt....Hack puhh....I always have, and always will, fish in the salt water with a bobber....I use the casting plugs to pass the time waiting for my live bait on a bobber to take the big dive....bobbers for salt water is not a new concept....Man I must need to get some sleep or something.

    wood.

bobbers are also the prefered setup for hammering the big blackback speckled trout in Laguna Madre on live shrimp. We fish'em on top of three foot leaders.Keeps the bait out of the hardheads, plus specks like hitting near surface.

Re: Disconnected....Again.

disconnectwood,

Tell us what kind of connection you are using. Is it a dial-up connection, dsl, cable etc??

As a quickie try...if you have a desktop icon to connect to the internet..a window with your address and password in it..double click on it to open the window but don't click connect..then click on properties and then options and see if you have an adjustment to set "idle time before hanging up" if so change it to "never". I hope this will help..if not someone will recognize your connection and have the information you need to stop it from disconecting on you.

Good luck!

Derwood, If you're using MS internet explorer:
Tools, Internet options, Connections tab, Settings, under dial up settings click advanced, change the "if idle for more than _ minutes" settings to more minutes or uncheck the box and it will never hang up on you.

Re: Disconnected....Again.

The previous comments are very true...butt changing them will only work if YOUR computer is disconnecting from your ISP.

I suspect that your ISP is bumping you off because of inactivity. Very common. In this case you need to download a program for you computer that fools your ISP into thinking that your active, not disconecting you.

There is a cool program out there called Stay Live that keeps your connection hot.

Try it out if the settings on your computer dont seem to change anything. :)

Frustratedwood, they are all good suggestions, but I agree with Duckcommander. I bet you are getting disconnected by your ISP due to inactivity. The program he suggested should work. Does your ISP publish how long you have to be inactive before the boot? If they do and are kicking you off before the time, then they owe you some money back. You say you have to preview or get kicked off. The preview sends packets back to ther server thus resetting the activity counter. If it is just a few minutes, I would probably look for a new ISP period.

Re: Disconnected....Again.

Frustratedwood, I run Explorer 7.0 and MSN couldn't help me. I had the same trouble and finally contacted Compaq, now Hewlett Packard, and for $62, yes 62 the had me change some settings in 'System configuration' under the'Start up' tab and now it stays connected till I disconnect. They say click on Start,Settings,Control Panel, Systems, and Performance. System Resources should be 80% free or more. John Oh yes, that $62 gets me unlimited technical support for one year.
