An alarm is going of on my 50 HP evinrude, It has a new water pump and it is pumping. I am thinking oil pump. I have been wanting to disconnect and go to mixing my oil with the gas. Please share what I must do to make that change.

Re: Disconnecting oil pump and alarm Evinrude

cut and plug oil line, remove sensor wire to the oil tank, unplug the sensor wire going to the OMS pump. disconnect fuel line at carbs, premix your fuel to 50:1, now squeeze the primer bulb, until you get permixed fuel coming out of the disconnected fuel line. it will be a different color. reconnect fuel line. go boating. you can continue to use the present pump, until it finally dies.

Just make sure that the alarm you are getting is the oil alarm, and not over heat alarm.

J/E Alarms

low oil alarm is a beep every 30 seconds. beep......................beep...................

no oil alarm is a beep every 1/2 second or so.beep, beep, beep

overheat alarm is a constant beep.beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Re: Disconnecting oil pump and alarm Evinrude

Can anybody tell me what colour the sensor wire on an Evinrude E60TLENE is?
My VRO system was disabled before I bought the motor and the oil reservoir removed. It was fine on my old boat but I recently had it installed on a new boat.
unfortunately the boat shop that did this has reconnected the alarm wire on the main wiring loom (the big red plug) and now I don't know which colour to disconnect.
I am getting the no oil alarm every 1 to 2 seconds, but I don't want to muck around disconnecting the wires randomly to find the correct one.

Does anybody here know which one it is?
