The old dish washer water pump is getting weak, and I am not too sure that the heating elements are getting up to temp. So does anyone have recommendations on a replacement unit that works well, and won't break the bank?

Re: Dishwashers

Whirlpool Model #: DU850SWPQ no frills, bell & whistles but has the same guts as the higher end models. This one has a electro-mechanical timer with a knob instead of an electronic circuit board. Price at Lowes is $269.

I like the ones without a center water tower.
So much easier to put in large items.

Agreed. We just got a new Whirlpool, and it holds so much more than our old GE with a center tower. But, what's amazed me is how indispensable a drying agent is with the new one. Our old one would leave the dishes hotter than the plates on a Shoney's breakfast buffet, but the new one doesn't do jack without drying agent. It would leave everything so wet I placed a service call thinking the element wasn't working. The guy came out and assured me that was the problem. I was skeptical, but he was right. To his credit he ran every possible diagnostic before he left and even found the Jet Dry sample the installer had left under the sink and poured it in. It's probably better for the dishes because the element doesn't have to get as hot.

Hmmm...might need to get some for my rental houses!

These are the exact same as the recent Maytags right?

Technically the Maytags are just a product line of Whirlpirl.....so pretty much the same.
